Chief Clerk of Revenue Commissioner's Office Retires - We'll Miss You, Jessie!

Jessie Abrams, Chief Clerk of the Revenue Commissioner's office, was honored with a retirement reception at that office on Aug. 28. She began work for the Revenue Department on Feb. 16, 1995 and served there for over 14 years. A resolution presented to Mrs. Abrams by Revenue Commissioner Jack Somerville and the Pickens County Commission praised "her duties, responsibilities, and her working relationships" and that she "repeatedly demonstrated the importance of getting the job done correctly the first time." The resolution said Mrs. Abrams "always strived to set a positive example and work ethic. She has won the friendship and respect of her co-workers and others with whom she has come into contact through the exellence of her work, her unfailing good nature, and her delightful sense of humor." Somerville read a tribute to Mrs. Abrams near the end of the reception by comparing life's journey to a train ride through a beautiful countryside. "Jessie, we know your smile in the mornings. We've seen your caffeine giggles in the afternoon. Our lives are better for being part of your trip. We hope that you will eat more ice cream, plant more flowers and vegetables, and have a wonderful time on your retirement journey." Somerville presented her with a crystal vase and said, " We hope that when you use this vase, you will think of us and the many good times we have enjoyed together." Mrs Abrams was surrounded by several family members and friends throughout the afternoon.
